Kevin R. Frech makes moving pictures.

His documentary “Bowery Dish” explores how trendy restaurants gentrified skid row.  It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and more recently sold out the Pioneer Theater in Manhattan.  “Not Like In The Movies” explored the link between mental illness and artistic vision, and won a prize at the Chicago International Film Festival.  That started his collection of works by mentally ill artists, even though his apartment doesn’t have enough space for them.

But sometimes, Kevin likes to get away from real life.  He collaborated on many TV appearances, commercials and live performances with Blue Man Group, and won an EDDY Award for the video design in their Las Vegas show, “Live At Luxor.”  This process taught him that he can live inside a Las Vegas casino for three months without permanent damage.  And yes, he got a hell of a screenplay out of it.

Speaking of scripts, Kevin also wrote “On The Borderline,” a Lion’s Gate release starring Eric Mabius, Marley Shelton, Elizabeth Pena and R. Lee Ermey.  He’s ghost-written a few other staples of late night TV, but doesn’t like to discuss them much.

Kevin finds life to be odd, compelling and funny.  His spots are like that too.
