Born in New York City and raised in Los Angeles, Hana C. Ogawa actively pursued visual art, dance, and theater growing up. After graduating high school, she moved to Tokyo and began making documentaries on the Tokyo underground scene. After receiving a B.A. in Art History from Keio University, she joined a leading television production company where she worked as an associate producer and assistant director for over 10 primetime television movies and episodic dramas for Fuji Television.
Hana's passion to direct films in her own right made her return to the US. While at USC Film School, she has produced and directed over 6 celebrated shorts including her acclaimed thesis film, The Velvet Club, which received the Student Emmy Award and has been featured in LA Magazine's Top 10 List.
Immediately after graduating USC, she was approached by Sony Music (Japan) to direct their newly signed artist, Nikki Monroe, for her first music video. Since then, she has directed music videos for various Japanese artists.
For the past 2 years, Hana has immersed herself into the commercial world by working at Michael Bay and Scott Gardenhour¹s 'roduction company.
Currently, she is a freelance writer/director for feature films, commercials, and music videos.
