Ted has produced seven independent films in six years under his Goldenlight Films banner. The company¹s first feature, Winding Roads, starring Rachel Hunter, James Marsters and Michael Weatherly, was recently picked-up by Lifetime Television and made its world cable premiere in the Spring of 2003. Melfi co-wrote, directed and produced the film.
As an independent producer, Melfi¹s latest feature Three Janes starring Gail O¹Grady, Stephanie Romanov, Gordon Clapp and John Glover is currently in post-production and pushing to make the Fall film festival deadlines. Again wearing the producing hat, Melfi raised much of the budget for the independent film Park Day starring Hill Harper, Sydney Tamaii Poitier and Brock Peters. Park Day won the Audience Choice Award at the New York Urbanworld Film Festival and was selected as a finalist for the IFP Gordon Parks award for best black independent film of the year.
In 2003, Melfi turned his attention to commercial directing and shot over 10 spots in eight months, including the now infamous Ron Jeremy Pizza Guy spot for MTV. His work includes commercials for: IBM, Earthlink, Heineken, Budweiser, Anaheim Angels, Mazda and ESPN. This May (2004) he will be recognized at the Clios in Miami, as one of Shoot Magazines ³new directors to watch.² He recently signed with Santa Monica based Area 51 Films and has already shot spots for ESPN, the Anaheim Angels and Taco Bell. |
