For over a decade, director Judy Starkman has been telling unique, character-driven stories and delivering them in stylish and unexpected ways. Starkman¹s commercials and Pubic Service Announcements reflect her colorful past as a world-traveling journalist, photographer, and self-styled ³interrogator.²
For the past three years, Starkman has worked for The Channel One Network, directing hard-hitting feature documentaries and promotional spots, aimed at the all-important teenage market.
Starkman most recently directed a commercial campaign for the Hope for Youth Foundation with Hungry Man¹s Buzzer 51 production company. Other spots she helmed were for the internet web-site About.com and a :30 commercial co-sponsored by The US Army, which showcases the individual accomplishments of young Americans, as part of a campaign called ³Power of One.² This spot is currently running nationally on the Channel One Network. Her other recent projects: a :30 PSA sponsored by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), and a commercial campaign consisting of five spots for Channel One Network¹s on-line division.
Starkman has worked on several prime-time specials for CBS, among them, ³OJ Simpson: Black and White² and ³Time Magazine¹s 100 Greatest Artists and Entertainers.² At The Channel One Network, Starkman directed ³Hard Time,² a series on underage, female drug offenders, which was nominated for a Peabody Award. Starkman currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, CBS News¹ 48 Hours Correspondent, Bill Lagattuta, and their dog, Skip.
